πŸ“‘ Monitoring a Tenda OLT

Tenda GPON OLTs (TES70xx series, e.g. TES7001, TES7002) are monitored without SNMP β€” the TES7001 has no SNMP agent at all, so there is nothing to enable on the OLT and the SNMP guide does not apply. ISPMan logs in to the OLT's web admin UI, the same way you do in a browser, and reads everything from there: system info, PON ports, ONUs with their optical power, uplinks, traffic and alarms.

⚠️ IPs, ports and interface names below are examples. The forwarded port and NAT rules are generated per OLT β€” always use the values shown on that OLT's page in ISPMan.

βœ… Tested models

Model Firmware Status
TES7001 V3.0.0.47 Field-tested end to end
TES7002 β€” Expected to work (same web UI); not yet tested

The models share the same web UI, so the steps are the same. On a model not marked tested, press Poll now right after setup: if PONs and ONUs appear, it works. If the poll errors or the ONU list stays empty, contact ISPMan support with the model and firmware.

βš™οΈ How it works

πŸ“‹ Prerequisites

Step 1 β€” Give the router an address on the OLT's network

The OLT's management is untagged on its uplink ports, so the router port facing the OLT only needs an IP in the same subnet:

/ip address add address=<router-ip-in-olt-subnet>/24 interface=<port-to-olt> comment="OLT mgmt"
/ping <olt-management-ip> count=3

Use a free address in the OLT's management subnet (e.g. OLT at x.x.x.y β†’ router x.x.x.z/24) on the port the OLT is cabled to.

The ping must reply before you continue.

⚠️ Don't move the OLT's management IP. It only answers web and ping on its management interface. An address added on another VLAN answers ARP only, and moving the management IP to a VLAN that isn't fully wired can lock you out until a factory reset.

⚠️ Keep the router port accepting untagged frames. With frame-types=admit-only-vlan-tagged the OLT's management traffic is dropped and the OLT becomes unreachable.

Step 2 β€” Add the OLT in ISPMan

Go to Devices β†’ OLTs β†’ Add OLT and fill in:

Then Edit the OLT, turn on β€œCollect ONUs via the OLT web UI”, click Pick a free one for the exposed web port, keep the OLT web port at 80, and save.

Step 3 β€” Save the OLT's web login

On the OLT's page click Admin access and save the OLT's web username (usually admin) and password. This is required β€” without it every poll fails with incomplete_web_config.

Step 4 β€” Apply the NAT rules

On the OLT's page click Router NAT, then Apply on <your router>. ISPMan pushes:

Step 5 β€” Verify

  1. Click Poll now. A good result reads β€œPolled OK β€” … (collected via the web UI)”.
  2. You'll see the system info (model, firmware, uptime, temperature), PON ports, the ONU list β€” each ONU by serial number with its Rx power β€” and the OLT's alarms under Events.

πŸ’‘ Once verified, ISPMan keeps the OLT's dashboard and charts up to date automatically.

πŸ› οΈ Troubleshooting

Symptom Fix
incomplete_web_config Save the login (Step 3); check web collection is on with a web port (Step 2).
login_rejected Wrong OLT password β€” re-save Admin access.
econnrefused / timeout Re-apply the NAT rules (Step 4) and ping the OLT from the router (Step 1).
β€œshowing the previous poll” One poll failed and the last good data was kept β€” usually transient.
ONU Rx power in red (e.g. +3 dBm) Far too much light β€” add a splitter or ~15 dB attenuator. Healthy Rx is about βˆ’8 to βˆ’27 dBm.
ONU never appears on the OLT Optical problem: too much light on a direct patch cord, APC/UPC connector mismatch or dirty connectors, or an EPON ONU (it must be GPON).
